Listening, writing

I took most of the summer off from music which is why I've posted no new songs or blog entries.

In the winter and spring, I composed a fair number of songs, or perhaps I should say parts of songs. I rendered them out to mp3's and saved them in a "sketches" folder on my iPod. Over the summer I've purposely avoided listening to the sketches  so I could get some distance from them and review them from a fresh perspective.

I recently sat down and listened through these tracks and was surprised to find that I have over 20 minutes of musical rough drafts. There are definitely some cool tracks in the list that I'll be developing into full songs.

Of course I'm also writing new material as well. Not sure whether the next track will be from an new material or from a previous sketch. Time will tell.
